A kitchen note from Ryan

Wednesday Bake

Short, practical notes shaped by cricket, a love of baking and cooking, and one weekly ritual.

I’m Ryan Cunningham. I play cricket and love baking and cooking. I bake every Wednesday to relax. These notes turn those interests into useful ideas for cricket tea and everyday cooking. Complete recipes remain in the paid PDFs.

The format

One question. One useful idea.

Each note starts with an everyday cooking question, offers one practical idea and points to a book or guide for more context. The complete ingredients and methods stay in the paid PDFs.

Note 01 · Cricket

A cricket tea spread starts with a small plan

I play cricket and love baking, so a tea table is a natural place to bring those interests together. If you’re planning one, start with a simple mix rather than a long menu:

  1. Choose one bake that can be sliced and shared.
  2. Add one savoury option for variety.
  3. Put plates, mugs and serving pieces in place before the break.

A small plan gives guests a clear place to start and helps keep the break about the people around the table.

Note 02 · Cooking

Batch cooking without planning every meal

A useful week plan does not need to fill every square. Start with one meal you can make ahead, decide where its portions will fit, then leave room for quicker meals or changes to the week.

  1. Look at the week and choose one day that has room for cooking.
  2. Plan one batch-cook meal instead of committing to a different dish every night.
  3. Keep the remaining days flexible, with a quick option for when plans change.

This is a planning idea, not a recipe. Recovery Kitchen groups quick, batch-cook and budget meals; the complete recipes stay in the paid PDF.
